Better control or Less efficient
Recently, there's some hiccup with a certain critical report generated everyday regarding monetary stuff. So today, there was a need to re-run that specific job as its was crucial to other dept. My colleague...was sandwiched in the middle coz one team asked to run the job and another team said to wait. The best part was that my team was only allowed to run the job. We know nothing on the jobs and we only run it when there are failed jobs.
So it was like.
Team A - Process their report A
Team B - Process their report B
If report A or B fail.....my team C will need to re-run the job when A and B finishes theirs.
This method was to have better control. But I think its super inefficient. As I'm typing this on notepad...both team are still around me waiting anixously for the job to be completed. Why can each team do their own things and re-run themselves. Sigh~Pity my team-mates.
Another incident, coz one of the analyst was on long leave (w/o informing her own team and affected ppl like us who have to clean her shit). Some jobs were on a hold coz she didn't leave her bloody password to the DB to her team. So dame pissed.
Heard from colleague that it was to have better control by having one person to grant access rights to DB. But they should at least have someone to cover incase something happen like kana accident hospitalised. What if she in a coma....no one will be able to access that DB and the whole organisation comes to a standstill because of a selfish staff?
*just venting frustration...no offence to anyone.. :p *
